Review of Jack Goes Boating (2010) by Shawn B — 03 Mar 2011
A small movie with a big heart. The story of two awkward people, who come together, and fit like two old souls, stumbling forward, toward love, slowly. Its very funny, mostly due to their awkwardness but sweet to.
Not syrupy like the typical romantic comedy, but mature and fresh. You will smile throughout the movie, enjoying the process of these two, coming finding their place, together. And really, this movie is about process.
Watching the characters change, and reveal, ever so slightly but enough to engage you draw you in so that you feel for them and feel hope for them. There's a lot more going on with Jacks best friend and his wife but really, its a funny, awkward, romantic movie about two people who probably have rarely had a date but somehow, come together.
Another excellent movie.
