It's always refreshing to see a movie shy away from flashy CG visuals, and just stick with costumes, props and makeup. Jack Brooks is a horror/comedy of the old school variety, and relishes in its goof and gore.
I recommend it for fans of Evil Dead style movies. "OMG not scary at all!" is a terrible reason to rate a film badly when, 1) it's not meant to be, and 2) everything else about the movie is so much fun.
