Review of J. Edgar (2011) by Wes L — 21 May 2012
It's a noble effort with some good performances. Sadly, the film never finds a good way to tell Edgar's story and define him as a person - it's especially hampered by the old age framing device.
The most interesting characters (the right hand man and the secretary) bring up so many story possibilities the film doesn't deliver on. It's mostly flat and uninvolving, which was the last thing I expected.
