Review of J. Edgar (2011) by Paul L — 11 Aug 2012
I seldom expect to agree with the critic but today I am right there on this one. The direction on this one was the issue. The issue of following someone who really lived must be a central problem to solve for directors and actors.
..I found the same issue with Iron Lady. Trying to stay true to real life events takes the plot into an unnatural timeframe in development of the character within a 90 minute frame. Spanning 40 years of history is no small feat--and still stay true to the intimate moments with Clyde Tolson and J Edgar as they occured.
