Review of J. Edgar (2011) by Jake P — 18 Aug 2012
The pace makes J. Edgar seem much longer than it is & with a running time of nearly two hours & twenty minutes it's a lengthy undertaking for the average viewer. But the film is impressive.
DiCaprio's performance is the life of the movie, which is in itself bleak, near colorless & somber. It is at the same time epic, ambitious, stiff & loose in it's interpretations of Mr.
Hoover. The film could have been six hours long with an intermission or two & could have still prospered. All in all I'm polarized but I'm giving J. Edgar high marks for achieving in more areas than in lacked & for being a biopic that's unafraid to slander & sympathize its subject.
