IMO its ultimate failure is to not take a stand on any of the topics that circulated around the first director of the FBI. So many juicy bits they could delve into and its all just hints in the wind. DiCaprio is absolutely amazing throughout the whole film even though half of it he must play through a cheesy looking rubber mask as the venerable JEH. After just a cursory Google Image search you come up with all kinds of nuggets about JE and his life long lover Clyde. Again Clint breezes over this with a watered down brush. The dirty games Hoover played as mentioned in passing with little but gloss.

After the thrill of watching DiCaprio work wore off all you are left with is the worse movie Clint Eastwood ever made. And that speaks volumes from me cause I am a HUGE Eastwood fan. Looks like his politics interfered with a movie he wanted to make and he took the Republican way out. Sad really, Hoover could have been a movie to mark both men's careers.... an epic spanning 3+ hours of awesomeness. Instead we get a shoddy election add for right wing nuttery.

HUGE LET DOWN.
