DiCaprio worked his ass of in this 2011 biopic of J. Edgar Hoover. The area that fell flat for me seemed to be Clint Eastwood's half assed approach to the film. Hoover's story is one that should be interesting, Controversial and captivating. I got none of this from this film.
Instead the film came across dull and very unconvincing. DiCaprio, Judi Dench, Armie Hammer and Naomi Watts were redeeming qualities in this film which is shown by my somewhat generous rating but Clint Eastwood's lack of interest hurt this film badly. Missed the boat, Could have been great.
