Review of J. Edgar (2011) by Bryn D — 18 Nov 2013
It's alright, there's problems. Hollywood can't do "old people" make-up, it just looks fake, but you kind of have to ignore that here. Leonardo DiCaprio gets on my nerves a bit these days, I don't think he's as great as people think he is, and when he's playing a real person in a biopic such as this, he's just Leo DiCaprio in old man makeup with an accent.
But the subject matter is interesting, even if the story moves a little slow, so that's what passes it for me. If I watch a film like this and gain genuine interest for its subject, it's made a decent impression on me and must have done something right.
