Review of J. Edgar (2011) by Kevin M — 02 Feb 2014
Moderate;y engrossing account of J Edgar Hoover's (DiCaprio) career and personal life through the foundation of the FBI until his passing, told via flashbacks by an older Hoover. Eastwood lends the film his usual dry, dispassionate tone, which suits the film well, but having DiCaprio, and Hammer as Hoover's aide, in bad old age make-up for very substantial portions of the film is distracting.
