Review of J. Edgar (2011) by President P — 24 May 2013
Finally, a bad film from Eastwood, come on people it was inevitable. J. Edgar is a poorly executed film and very disappointing. I wasn't expecting perfection, more along the lines of good to decent, but instead got a terrible film.
The writing is very poor, the direction is awful and to be honest it seemed Eastwood put his own opinion of the characters and story in, rather than tell the story as it should without an bias. DiCaprio gives a good performance, but the remaining cast is hit or miss, but mostly missed.
The story is alright I'd suppose, but is fairly inaccurate and again Eastwood's idiotic opinions got in the way. J. Edgar is very poor and unacceptable for a film with such big names and a director who before was on a great streak of directing great films.
Unless you really like history or are interested in J. Edgars awesome story, although the film doesn't do that right, then I would highly recommend skipping this at all costs and find a documentary on J.
Edgar somewhere else, cause Eastwood fails miserably here.
