Review of I've Loved You So Long (2008) by Vincent K — 05 Apr 2009

Watched it in HK Cultural Centre surrounded by lots of foreigners. Whatever I picked to watch in HKIFF, it must be the fact that its storyline catches me. This movie is not an exception. One sentence moves me very much, of course I cannot capture the original in French nor dictate the exact subtitle in English, it rougly says "the prison for a mother is the death of her child, you'll never get rid of it".

I know well about the feeling of losing those who really got close to you from the moment you were born, and the truth is you'll never get rid of it. For the movie, I could just say I did the right thing to spend a nite alone watching it and it moves me.
