Review of It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012) by Tor M — 27 Aug 2018
As far as I know this is basicly the third part of a trilogy that include the first two parts before this last one. I'm not sure, but this is still a short little animated film that is divided into three parts.
We meet Bill. A simply drawn man with plenty of thaughts about evertyhing and everyone. A very observing man that focuses on stuff in his mind that seem pretty weird. He also has a shattered psyche and goes through some illness. Often he thinks back, sometimes he dreams. Sometimes he just excist.
This is a very inspirational, creative and interesting film, and truly is like non other. The way it is done, mostly drawn stick figures on white - sometimes mixed with other medias like fire and nature shotes, constantly complimented with a voice-over done in a rather weird tone and presentation.
I found this film to be a piece of art, that with all it's nonsense, manage to pull through a meaning and impressively make you relate and smile into all the darkness. This is not a happy film, but the presentation makes it gentle and at the same time it makes you ask yourself a lot of questions about your life. The effects are actually very good and in general it's a well produced film that might bring you something more than just a film experience.
Directly after watching it I'm not as "sold" as most people on the net seem to be. Still, I was impressed and very glad I saw this film.
7.5 out of 10 grocery bags.
