Review of It's Such a Beautiful Day (2011) by Shane H — 28 Dec 2014
Oh my. Never in my years did I think a simple flip-book style animation could be so engaging. Especially towards the 1 hour mark. Loved all the symbolism/animations/imagery/humor....well I just plain loved this little short story.
The narration also really makes the movie special. I wish I was Bills friend, it seems a good companion would have greatly benefited him. Not his darned ex girlfriend (although she was there for him more than anyone else, so I can't be mad at her for leaving him).
Found myself trying to relate due to some Alzheimers/dementia that runs on both sides of my family, which makes this film a little more difficult to watch. Made me really sad, yet gives you a better perspective of what someone with these mental issues may be going through.
All of which seem like a nightmare to experience. In the end, I'm happy for Bill's life. I think he finds his peace. If this is your type of movie, you just might find yourself looking at life a little differently from now on.
