Review of It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) by Adam C — 15 Aug 2011
This was a quirky, imaginative indie flick that didn't initially pop off the shelves at me, but I'm glad I eventually took the time to pick it up. Zach Galifianakis plays a guy in a mental ward, and ironically this is the sanest character I've seen him play yet, but it's perfect.
The main character has a startlingly sad story to tell from the beginning, but like most film's of this nature it gets better as it goes. There were a few predictable elements to the story, and the script was never wildly inspiring or ingenious, but the conversations amongst the main characters led to something that was much bigger than the sum of its parts.
It's bound to leave you with a smile on your face.
