Review of It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) by Sean W — 29 Aug 2011
Probably nothing outstanding - but surely the warmest film I know. No other film lights my heart up so much and makes me feel constantly happy that I breathe. Maybe I'm weird - but this world of crazy people in movies makes me feel incredibly warm.
I connected very well to the main character, maybe because of personal reasons, but nevertheless Keir Gilchrist did an amazing job portraying a teenager suffering from "teen angst" (I would rather call it teen angst than actual MDD or dysthimia...). The star of this film is Zach Galifanakis... we see him in a way like we never saw him before. Comedic, but wounded. A fragile character suffering from MDD and several suicidal attempts, who still has a funny way about life... and absolutely likeable character that affected me strongly.
Very entertaining film with a lot of depth... and a message that couldn't be more beautiful: Breathe. Live.
