Review of It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) by Tim R — 10 Oct 2011
Has a few inspirational moments, but really it's kind of a 'Cuckoo's Nest' for teens that glosses over the genuine anguish of depression and anxiety. Keir Gilchrist's central performance doesn't have the weighted depth needed to portray the depressed 16-year-old and Emma Roberts is miscast.
That being said, Zach Galifianakis's performance rings true. Overall, it isn't bad, but I expect more from Fleck and Boden after 'Sugar.'.
