Review of It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) by Dylan G — 02 Feb 2012
Really, really liked this movie. Doesn't hurt that Zach Galifinakis could just sit on a rock and grunt occasionally for me to enjoy his acting, and Keir Gilchrist was ideally cast as well. Probably would have chosen someone less picture-perfect and squeaky-clean than Emma Roberts, but she did okay. Ended up too sweet and neat and tidy to be a 'serious' film, but not insipid either, with serious and moving moments and a respectful treatment of mental illness. Highly enjoyable, leaves you feeling slightly happy and in a thoughtful frame of mind.
And one little phrase I hope I'll remember: "Skip anyway.".
