Review of It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) by Patricia P — 20 Oct 2012
Even though it's far from perfect, It's Kind Of A Funny Story has this general likability about it that grows on you as the film progresses. I can't help but be a little biased when watching this film because I personally struggle with depression.
I loved the various high-school-college-application references and the pressures associated with that time, seeing how I'm going through that myself. I loved the characterizations, you genuinely start to like them through the film, specially because I can relate to them.
The acting was also brilliant by all of the cast. I also love how the movie was shot, the cinematography was very artistic and creative. I like how it can be humorous and stirring yet manages to evade the sappiness usually associated with depression.
Overall, I think it's a great movie. Quite inspiring as well.
