Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Brenton A — 18 Aug 2010
It''s difficult to think of a better cast that is more completely squandered in any recent film. I don't think that "relatability" should be a necessary quality in a good movie, but it seems that the only people who could enjoy It's Complicated must be divorced middle-aged mothers, simply because they can feel sympathy for Streep's wishy-washy character.
Granted this is a sizable population, but the result is painful for the rest of us to watch. The lone bright spots: John Krasinski's few cheese-filled scene stealing moments, most of which were used in advertising the film and thus already known to the audience.
