Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Kaylen M — 25 Oct 2010
It's Complicated is a fantastic "adult" romantic comedy that is filled with awkward situations, scenes of comedic gold and stellar performances from Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep. For once, this is a rom-com that doesn't get bogged down with silly jokes aimed at the gutter or a teenage audience. In fact, its incredibly entertaining that doesn't fall victim to the perils of most rom-coms of the last 5 years. It's Complicated manages to avoid the predictable "cutesy" scenarios, lame one liners, and overall drab and dreary situations.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one and I think you will too. Its the rom-com for the thinking set. I wish more rom-coms were made like this one at the very least, movies like this would help elevate this particular genre out of the "chick flick" realm - It's Complicated is far from that classification.
There's something here for everyone and I suspect, you'll find it as equally entertaining. You can tell the cast of Baldwin, Streep and Steve Martin were having a good time and its hard for you - the audience - to not have a good time with them.
I highly recommend It's Complicated.
