Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Aaron S — 01 May 2011

The romantic comedy about a divorced couple having an affair manages to be both light on its feet and heavy enough to deliver something of a message. It's Complicated isn't: It's pretty simple. It's simply a good time. Streep is in movie star mode, and she's irresistible. But Baldwin achieves something not many men have been able to with Streep: You notice him. It's Complicated unleashes an unabashedly, desperately romantic side of Baldwin that we haven't seen before. He doesn't steal this movie so much as grant all Streep's fluttering and twirling and hand. The result: a fun and sweet romantic comedy that lands comfortably on the smart side of vacant, along the way offering a pleasant and satisfying holiday diversion for the grown-ups in the room.

VERDICT: "Full Price" - My second highest rating (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent..
