This was a very, very enjoyable movie. I had a great time watching it. The cast was outstanding, even if a couple of them were on their first real movie set. I was really hoping that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin would have more screen time together but it was disappointingly limited.
I know the two of them can be very funny together, and it seemed a shame not to give them more to do together. However, Meryl Streep provided the incredible chemistry between all the characters, really.
She was a privilege to watch in this one. The comedy, the writing, the timing, the pacing...everything seemed to perfect. And I found myself really rooting for Streep's character, wanting her to pick Steve Martin so badly! I was very invested in this film.
It was charming and had this air of luxury and fine wine about it. A rich film, you could say.
