Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Alice L — 10 Feb 2012

Despite being fairly predictable, I really surprised myself and thoroughly enjoyed the film. I have never laughed out loud so much in a romantic comedy before. The characters were slightly cartoonish at times but overall it's actually really given me a glimmer of hope for the RomCom genre which I usually give a wide berth, an attitude which I think has perhaps prejudiced many of the other reviews.

Then again perhaps it just felt fresh because I so rarely watch films from this genre. Either way, Meryl Streep is on top form as usual and the remaining cast, although perhaps slightly in her shadow, provided great support.
