Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Mary B — 01 May 2012
I personally ALWAYS love a Nancy Meyers film. She's one of my favorite directors/writers! I literally want to live in one of her movies--the lighting, locations, interiors of houses, etc are always so perfectly sunny and inviting. She makes life feel great despite whatever circumstances her characters are faced.
Meryl Streep was great as always. Her vulnerability in this film reminded me of one her earlier romantic roles with Robert DeNiro in FALLING IN LOVE. However, IT'S COMPLICATED was not up to par with the fantastic chemistry between JAck Nicholson and Diane Keaton in SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE. Nevertheless, still a GREAT movie/storyline. Some really hilarious scenes!! Steve MArtin is one of my favs as well but his character was a bit too understated for my taste. In conclusion, never pass up a Nancy Meyers film!!!
