Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Lorne D — 07 Mar 2013
I just finished watching an edited version of 'It's Complicated'. I loved it (again)!! Other than the drug scene (call me a prude, but I don't think you need Marijuana to 'loosen up'), it's one of my favorite movies.
John Krasinski is great, gets the most laughs, & steals the scenes he's in. He is not a main character, but he's at his best here.
This film shows the hurt & regrets that come with adultery. Even though there is plenty of levity in this film (unlike Hope Springs, a 'similar' film only due to Meryl Streep), it really makes the point that cheating on any level shows a lack of integrity, & causes deep wounds. I love that it gets the point across while still being funny & entertaining. THAT is the rollercoaster of life itself. Laughing one minute, crying the next & learning to roll with all of those twists & turns, as these characters (especially Streep & Steve Martin) do. Alec Baldwin is fine, as always, but I LOVE Steve Martin when he plays emotion; makes me think that's more who he really is in his life. And I adore him for it.
