Review of It's a Wonderful Life (1946) by Gary N — 10 Dec 2012
A timeless Christmas classic-not to be missed. George Bailey (James Stewart), a self sacrificing moral man who puts his own dreams on hold time and time again, is reaching the end of his tether. Drained of his faith and filled with desperation-he considers suicide.
The only hope of changing his mind and realising his value and importance, rests in the hands of a novice angel, Clarence. To earn his "wings", Clarence must convince George using his powers of revisiting the past and showing the possible future (a Scrooge-like mechanism but given new life in this).
Its a wonderful journey-and a wonderful life. Seek it out! For those who have seen the original black & white version, check out the colourised version-despite my intital reservations of tampering with the classic, it done really well and breathes new life into the tale.
