Review of It's a Wonderful Life (1946) by Stan D — 13 Dec 2012
Frank Capra directs his favorite movie, starring Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, Ward Bond, Gloria Grahame and Henry Travers. A talented man works for the poor and middle class instead of seeking higher paying jobs.
Frustration and tragedy leads him to contemplate suicide, when he is saved by an angel, who shows him how much worse his friends and his town would be if he had never lived. Justifiably voted the most inspirational movie of all time by the American Film Institute, but of course the academy gave no best picture oscar to the movie or best actor oscar to Stewart.
This has become everyone's favorite Christmas movie.
