Review of It's a Wonderful Life (1946) by Diego L — 23 Dec 2012
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE REVIEW.
There are no such words to properly describe how great this film is. This film is probably one of my most favorite films of all time. This film is probably the best character study I've seen in film. This person is a person; he's generally nice and likable, reacts to the moment, like an actual human being. Another great thing is that this film has great pacing, despite this movie being about an entire person's life.
This is one of those movies such as "Forest Gump" where they create a great character and have him be involved in interesting or practical situations in life, without making us bored. Films such as "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" failed at pacing (which was ultimately crucial for the film). The acting is probably one of the best acting I've seen in any film. Everyone is fantastic and realistic in his or her roles. They act so well that you swore they didn't know they were being filmed; that's how good their acting is.
Who could forget the last 30 minutes of the film. The movie throws an actual dilemma that is realistic and relatable, everyone in their lives that, for the moment, the world's imploding on them. He reacts the way anyone in the situation he is in would. The film naturally brings out that uneasy feeling or memory and makes you pity George Bailey.
The ending, at first has you weeping sadly, as he uttered, "I want to live again" and has you weeping in joy for the rest of the ending. This film shows people a lesson akin to "Our Town"; but in a more optimistic story and conclusion, but just as effective.
I could write pages and pages of material stating why I love this movie so much. The movie has a great character, great story, great direction and overall, a great film. For those who haven't seen it or are aspiring filmmakers, see this film; it is one of those absolutely great films that deserves the recognition and honor.
GRADE: Classic.
LETTER GRADE: A+.
NUMERAL GRADE: 10.
OVERALL OPINION: This isn't the best Christmas movie; this is of the best movies, period.
