It was re-made, but not ought to have been. It's just so ingenious and irreplaceable, even if slapstick isn't for everyone and hasn't the grounded scope of reality some "sociologists" might call for from a director like Krammer.
Put this on the "Timeless" list of films that cannot be given a sequel, simply too extraordinary for a touch-up.
