Review of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) by Mike L — 13 Sep 2009
Parts of this ensemble comedy work very well and other parts not so much. With such a large cast many of the performers have to over-act or have such over the top performances that they will either strike your funny bone just right or they will leave you with that dead arm feeling.
For me Winters, Caesar, Silvers are great.
As opposed to Rooney, Merman, Shawn, and Terry Thomas who just irritated me. Especially Merman, and while intentional and her ending is great, it takes an awfully long time to play that joke out and it just is not worth it.
It is fun and harmless humor and fun trying to find all the cameos.
