Stanley Kramer had been only known for socially conscious dramas, and when it was announced that he would be making the biggest, most expensive, and longest comedy film ever made, people thought he lost his mind.
And with a 3-hour epic of a movie with every comedian and actor known at the time in main, supporting, and even cameo appearances, it was bound to make everyone satisfied. Except possibly Marx Brothers fans.
