Review of It's a Gift (1934) by Guy B — 05 Jun 2007
This is a classic! WC Fields has his own blend of humor, and it isn't for everyone, but it works great in this film. The plot moves quick enough and keeps the gags flowing at a good pace. It's very staged and totaly contrived, but it works (in one of the few movies that can claim that).
The plot isn't that engrossing, but the "payoff" in the end is worth the whole movie. I must say I fell in love with this movie after the ending. When I watched it again, it had all the more charm.
Altogether, this is a fun, charming old movie - if you can, it's worth the effort.
