Review of Italian for Beginners (2000) by Edward T — 21 Jun 2008
Forget about Lars von Trier for a minute. This was the film that showed me the real potential in the Dogme approach to movies. It was an eye-opener to see a romantic comedy done without all the saccharine cliched garbage.
Made me rethink the entire genre -- all of this from a film that adheres to a forced regimen of ultra-low production standards and "unpolished" scripting.
