Review of It Takes Two (1995) by Secoiya S — 21 Aug 2013
For 1995:
So lemme get this straight; this movie was rated so terribly even with the considerable charm of the Olsen twins.
Mary-Kate and Ashley didn't set these critics on fire with their lovableness and warmth?
Well I guess I can see the big issue they're saying, this movie does heavily borrow from 'The Parent Trap'.
It's unavoidable in so many cases right down to the switching daughters, the rich class and the poor class, the evil stepmother and so on.
The thing is even with those gripes this is still one of my favorite childhood flicks to watch.
There's just something about it that's pretty sentimental, these kids just want their guardians to be happy, one wants a real home and the other just wants the affectionate bond.
'It Takes Two' tells us things need to move forward and family is everything.
Steve Guttenberg is himself as usual being pretty quirky and Kirstie Alley actually does alright, too.
It gets pretty romantic in a lot of spots and that can bring a smile to your face if you let it.
The Olsens sell this movie.
