Review of It Stains the Sands Red (2016) by Lee M — 23 Oct 2017
A horror film that takes a more dramatic approach than the usual scarefest antics.
A stripper/mother with her boyfriend drive out in the desert but their car gets stuck.
Little do they know that a zombie has snuck up on them, the boyfriend dies and Molly is left on her own in the dryness of the empty landscape with this undead flesheater constantly chasing her.
If the zombie doesn't kill her then the intense heat, dehydration, and starvation will.
I'm amazed there's a good amount of depth to this one since Molly opens up to this zombie when she normally would to another human being; she's broken, a drug abuser, and she left her child at a very young age.
You actually get to see her grow amidst this zombie apocalypse.
The blood and guts in here indeed 'stains the sands red'.
But again Molly's character arc begins to develop even after the second half making you think this story has wrapped up but she has one more thing to make right for herself.
Who knew we'd see an unusual attachment between a living human and an undead one?
Good gore and good heart.
