Review of It Might Get Loud (2008) by Matthew H — 10 Jan 2010
What was Jack doing at the start of this? Who cares? It was amazing.
Right now, after watching this, you think to yourself, "Who created the guitar? What more the electric?" A time machine seems like child's play now. What amazing sounds you can get from great guitarists playing their instruments. How do six strings do wonders like this?
Putting 3 great guitarists from 3 different generations of music in one room to give their opinions on the subject might not be the smartest thing to do as there might have been big ego and fist fights. On the contrary. This went very very well.
I personally love Jack White and the several bands he's in. I love how he plays the guitar with his bluesy style fused with some sort of punk-ish, angsty, sound that just makes his music sound violent and full of attitude. I just love that.
The Edge has all his technical stuff to do the magic for him. Nonetheless, he still manages to play out what he's thinking in his head, which is wonderful.
Jimmy is just a legend. Hands down his guitar playing is undoubtedly incredible. His story is a true inspiration to all, really. But getting to where he's got truly depends on oneself.
Their thoughts are just reflected through their guitar playing. The music they create. Taking a substance from another medium and bringing it to life. It's just astonishing.
Overall, I enjoyed this to the bone. This was really a very satisfying watch. Especially their ending song. That was so nice. Not to forget their last jam. That was just utter brilliance.
