Review of It Might Get Loud (2008) by Sal P — 10 Apr 2010
The look on Jack and Edge's face when Jimmy starts playing "Whole Lotta Love" is worth it alone; Jack has to practically fight back the tears. A really cool movie just to see the 3 of them working out each others tunes. The jam on "In My Time of Dying", Jimmy asking Jack how to play "Seven Nation Army", Edge teaching the other 2 how to play "I Will Follow" ; absolute geek heaven.
The standout here is Page. He's got this lonely, sweet soul to him and you can tell he really misses the old Zeppelin days. It's a real pleasure to see him get so electrified to play those legendary tunes again. Edge and Jack are great too, but it's Jimmy that fills this film with it's heart. I also liked the backstory about their favorite guitars.
The bonus features are crucial, since they're just other songs they cut from the film. There's stuff on it you don't want to miss, like Edge asking Jimmy to play "Kashmir" for them and Jack playing "I fought Piranhas" on a porch in Tennessee. I only wonder what could happened if they got together again, now that the ice is broken.
