Review of It Might Get Loud (2008) by Gary B — 18 May 2010
If you are a guitarist or a music lover you must watch this.
When three generations of rock gods sit down and jam a new piece, you come to the realization that they are just like everybody else, and have to work at it before they sound good.
Any guitarist would not need a reason to watch Jimmy Page. He is obviously not at his peak, but it isn't a competition, it's a documentary.
The edge is such a solid guitarist who became famous for his distinct sound. It is great to see his down to earth personality too..
What jack white said about challenging his limits as a musician impressed me. By making his gear more basic, it extracts more effort from him, and makes his music better. It explains why he would engage in a poject like the white stripes, and why it works.
Parts of this flick are going to be boring to some, but if you love these guys or love the guitar, you have to watch this movie.
