Review of It Might Get Loud (2008) by Jim P — 25 May 2010
I enjoyed this mostly because I am a fan of all three guitarists. I can see how anyone not that into one or two of them might find this film tedious. There are plenty of fascinating insights and moments that made me smile, especially the looks of childish delight on the faces of The Edge and Jack White as Page is playing the Whole Lotta Love riff right in front of them. All fraternal bonds fall away in that moment and they are clearly fans in awe of a legend. Jack White, although I love his musical ability and creativity, does come across very contrived, knowing he's on camera and playing his part. Both Page and The Edge, however come across as very genuine and candid. I suspect that a few decades ago Jimmy Page would never have spoken so openly about his session years since it might seem uncool and take away from the mystical aura of Zeppelin. That made it all the more fascinating for me.
Anyway, I am a sucker for any music documentary.
