Review of It Might Get Loud (2008) by Sue M — 28 Mar 2012
I come from a long lineage of musicians (including my great grandparents and grandparents - all of whom were professional musicians. one of my sisters as well as i, play piano by ear (big time) but I make my spending money as the vocalist in a popular local alt rock band...and my 15yr old is already an accomplished electric and acoustic guitarist and vocalist, and is just getting into songwriting)....
Anywho, as for the movie, aside from for the scenes in which the three guys *weren't* being filmed together, the flick was boring as hell...and they certainly didn't choose "guitar gods" - or even anyone who really changed the music world much with their guitar playing - well, except for Jimmy Page, maybe - he certainly is talented - and was interesting, at least - and, he's gotten so much more distinguished as he's gotten older - I was amazed at how refined he is...
"The Edge" was so-so (btw, wtf kind of name is that? - love yourself much, dude?), but he's certainly not of the same caliber as Jimmy Page - and come on now, since when did that clown from the white stripes become a guitar afficionado?? - I didn't even know that guy's name - nor do I want to remember it...PULEEEZE -.
Heck, if they wanted to put a "young" guitarist in the mix, *John Mayer* would've been a MUCH better choice - stop laughing - he's a hell of a lot more talented than white stripes boy, a hell of a lot more educated (in music and life in general), interesting, cute, and charismatic (if you don't think JM has talent, you probably haven't listened to his latest stuff).
Anyway, don't waste even a buck at redbox - wait until it comes out on network tv, lol.
