Review of It Happened One Night (1934) by Tyson C — 03 Jun 2009
A classic. One of the first of it's kind. I like Frank Capra's movies. he's stories may be exaggerated but the characters ring true. This movie has some great moments. I like the scene were they pretend to be a married couple and they argue to fool the cops.
Cheesy by todays standards, but really funny. Also the hitch hiking scene made laugh. I don't care for the girl. Claudette Colbert I believe she's called, her acting is rather stilted to me. More so than other old movies during this time.
And with the lead man, Clark Gable, during a great job hamming it up yet staying firm, she seems flat... all they way through. I miss movies like this. you know how it's going to end, but the trip there is the all the fun.
