Review of It Happened One Night (1934) by Edward M — 19 Dec 2010
Pretty good road trip comedy of sorts about an angry, abusive Clark Gable and the young attractive girl who falls madly in love with him for some reason. This is apparently the first "screwball" comedy ever made, and I guess it lives up to its reputation.
It's pretty entertaining as far as films go, but deserving of Best Picture? And Best Actor for both leads? I don't think so. I guess it was groundbreaking at the time, but today, it's a pretty standard comedy. Nothing special. Still, worth watching, for film history's sake.
