Review of It Happened One Night (1934) by Steve S — 05 Apr 2011
**** (out of four).
The screwball comedy that all screwball comedies should try to emulate. This is the granddaddy of them all and is still tops.
Claudette Colbert is an heiress who marries a fortune-hunter. Her father tries to intervene before the marriage is consumated. She runs away, meeting a stranger (Clark Gable) on the bus.
Many have tried, but few have succeeded in equally the magic from this early Frank Capra classic. Winner of the Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress Awards.
