Writer-director David Robert Mitchell takes the chilling concept of Koji Suzuki's horror novel Ring and gives it a thrillingly fresh update, reinvigorating an ancient genre trope with aesthetically pleasing cinematography, dream-logic frights, nostalgic poignancy and powerfully acted character trepidation.
