Review of It Follows (2015) by Yacob F — 21 Oct 2015
The best horror movie so far in 2015. A simple yet awesomely spooky premise delivered in a slow burning style which keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole film. Horror stereotypes and cliches although present are kept to a minimum which is very refreshing.
The story reminds me of Nightmare on Elm St without the massive body count. The cast although mostly unknowns all deliver good performances while the characters themselves are mostly likeable so you won't find yourself yelling at the television or getting mad at the dumb blonde for making all the wrong choices.
A great watch for any horror fan, unless of course you're a sucker for all the typical chiche horror movies that flood the cinemas nowadays in that case you probably won't enjoy. To me this movie had an old school horror feel to it and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
My one criticism would be that the ending felt anti climactic and long it was as if the writer/director had made two thirds of an awesome movie but never quite worked out the perfect ending. This is forgiveable so I'll stick to my positive review.
Check it out!!
