It Follows is a movie that has intrigued me since it came out, but all the hype revolving around it had me worried. The movie was being praised everywhere and I thought that I would be dissapointed with the movie if I saw it.

Now that I've seen it, I can say that the hype did not destroy this movie for me! The movie follows (hehe) a girl, Jay, that's been "infected" with the STD (Sexually Transmitted Demon, that's how I decided to call it) and now is being constantly followed by It.

The only way to get rid of It is to sleep with somebody else, then the It will hunt them, but as soon as that other person is dead, It begins to follow you again. Quite an original and fresh take on the horror genre if you ask me.

There is barely any violence in the film. The fear-factor in the movie mostly comes from the idea of being followed by something that you don't know what is and knowing that there's no escape once you have It.

The style is very reminiscent of Halloween, where Michael Myers is always following somebody with his very slow walk and he's always sort of kept in the background. This movie also has, maybe, about 2 or 3 jumpscares, which I'm very thankful for, because the more jumpscares, the more silly the movie is.

There are a few scenes that could've been cut, scenes that don't matter for the plot progression. The soundtrack was awesome! It captured the atmosphere of the movie very well and there were many scenes where It was following Jay and the music that played would make it even more frightening than it already was.

The camera-work is great and there are some really interesting shots in the movie, for example the very first scene where the camera is just standing in one place, and we follow a girl being hunted by It only with the camera rotating in its place.

The acting was pretty good and the characters are actually likeable! Whou would've thought we'd see a movie where friends actually help friends in a situation like this? All in all, a great, original horror movie with some really terrifying scenes and a paranoid soundtrack, but perhaps a bit too long as some of the scenes don't really matter for the movie and could've easily been cut out.

I would deffinetely recommend checking it out!
