Horror films of the last decade or so haven't been at their high point. The market seems to be cluttered with remakes and cheap jump scare movies but then a film like "It Follows" comes along and gives fans of the genre some hope.
It appears to take place in the 1980's (although cell phones are occasionally seen as well as semi modern cars, so why are they there is anyone's guess) and is about a teenage girl, who after a sexual encounter, is being followed some type of entity.
The film relies on a lot of atmosphere and has a jump scare that actually works well. The soundtrack is pretty good, it sounds like retro style video game music with some regular instrument worked in.
If you're bored with a lot of modern horror films, check this one out, it won't disappoint you.
