Review of It Follows (2015) by Thomas B — 31 Jul 2018
I had a really good time with 'It Follows'. It definitely has some flaws, mostly to do with the questionable ending, as well as a sense that it didn't fully explore its concept. That being said, the latter complaint is as much a testament to the film as a criticism really, because the concept was just so interesting and gripping for the majority of the film that I wanted to find out more.
As far as technical merits go: absolutely flawless. Beautiful visuals coupled with a truly accomplished soundtrack, and I love how most of the scares tend to come from things in the background; sometimes even out of focus - rather than completely in your face like most horror movies.
Given that this is David Robert Mitchell's first major movie - and it only cost $2 million - I cannot wait for 'Under the Silver Lake'.
