Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Monty H — 08 Jun 2017
Anyone who thinks this is a bad movie is impatient and possibly unintelligent. Every shot has meaning and every scene kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending was shocking and horrifying. If you are the type of person who doesn't enjoy literary movies then stay away but if you like movies that weave together themes and and scenes that make you think this is for you.
People who are expecting jump scares please go watch a shitty paranormal activity movie or Annabelle. This movie is not about a literal monster coming at night. It's about the fear and uncertainty of the night, the paranoia and balancing of the life the characters once lived and the life they live now.
Not everything is resolved and that's a good thing. Ambiguity helps this movie excel. I can't wait to see more from this director.
