Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Acacia — 11 Jun 2017
This is absolutely NOT a horror movie. It is instead a commentary on how people's humanity and civilization break down in extreme circumstances. We have seen this before, just not exactly as we see it in this movie.
When people are desperate to keep themselves and their families safe, morals and what is right and what is wrong fall by the wayside. It is every man for himself. That is what this is about. Horror movie? Only in that it is horrible to see how these people's humanity is shed when the **** hits the fan.
It is not pleasant to watch and definitely a downer of a movie. But, I thought it was well done. It kept our interest. But, it is not your screamfest summer horror flick. Definitely much more cerebral than that.
If you want a good, scary movie that you don't have to think too hard about, forget this one.
